Update on NETWorks & COVID-19 Response

Here at Northlake, we want to do what we can to help our neighbors in need during the COVID-19 crisis. By partnering with NETWorks, we believe our efforts will be most effective and have the greatest impact. Here are some ways you can be involved:
1. Donating food items.    With neighboring pantries having closed, a significant increase in needs is expected. Click here for a list of specific needed items.  You may drop off donations into a cart outside the NETWorks office during the hours listed below (only)Food left outside of these times cannot be accepted and cannot be distributed. Hours for drop-off are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10am-5pm.

2. Donate funds to NETWorks.

4. Volunteer to pack distribution bags. NETWorks now has a streamlined process for continuing to distribute food to our neighbors while protecting volunteers and visitors from the spread of COVID-19. Pre-packaged bags are being assembled to be distributed for curb-side pick-up. Small groups of volunteers are needed to pack distribution bags in shifts. If you would like to volunteer, click here to sign up. Please do not sign up if you have underlying conditions that could make you more vulnerable. If you feel ill, or have a fever, please do not volunteer. You MUST sign up online to volunteer. They will not allow walk-in volunteers. Their regular client hours for food distribution remains the same: Wednesdays, Fridays, & Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm. They have relaxed their service area limits, so if you know someone needing food, please send them their way. 


Also, they wanted us to be aware that the DeKalb County emergency declaration puts a moratorium on evictions through the end of April (for now). That may relieve some stress for a lot of people. So if you know of anyone in this situation, please let them know. 


If you know people who cannot (or will not) get to the pantry because of illness or high-risk factors, NETWorks can work with you to get food delivered to them. You will need to coordinate the delivery, but NETWorks can provide paperwork in advance to make the process go smoothly.
