We celebrate the many ways in which Northlake participates in God’s work throughout the world this Sunday. The theme: Beautiful Feet! Our worship service will reflect the many languages and cultures of our congregation and of our community. And, with a potluck dinner scheduled at noon, we will share in the culinary wonders of those cultures! Yum! (Please bring a dish and stay for the fun!)
At the center of all of our time together, however, is the worship of our God who resolutely is committed to bring salvation to all. Or, as Paul will say in Romans 10: “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him. For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'”
The good news of this announcement comes from the way it stretches us beyond thinking that God is interested in everyone who looks like me. However, God’s generosity also stretches us beyond the trap of thinking that God is interested in everyone but me. The gospel is simple and straightforward–no distinctions and no qualifiers. Everyone.
Good news indeed! See you Sunday as we celebrate the gospel and its power to transform lives, including our own, throughout our world!
