Men’s Prayer Breakfast and Workday

This past Saturday, the Northlake men had a great morning of fellowship, food, prayer, and work on the grounds. Stewart Smith, John Clinebell, and others rose early to put together a great feast and plenty of coffee. The crown of the meal, of course, were the John Tippins biscuits!

After eating Shawn Duncan shared with the men a message about prayer from Lauren Winner’s new book Still: Notes from a Mid-Faith Crisis.  He spoke about how without prayer the life of the Christian dies.  This sentiment, however, is not just about the prayer of the individual sustaining the individual but how the prayers of the community for one another sustain us even in seasons of dryness and prayerlessness.  This brief reflection was followed by a time of doing just that – sustaining one another by prayer over each other.

The day was wrapped up with further conversation and fellowship by pulling weeds, moving mulch, cutting grass, etc.  The men worked hard to prepare the grounds for Friends Day.

Thanks to all who participated in this meaningful experience!
