Mar. 6th- 1st Grade Bible Presentation

We’re looking forward to our 1st graders receiving their Bibles during worship service on Mar. 6th.  You won’t want to miss this special Northlake family tradition!

img_2865Every year, around this time we have a special presentation of Bibles during worship service for our 1st graders.  At this age, children go through an explosion of learning and growing- physically, emotionally, mentally, and yes, spiritually too!
Just as we are careful to provide their bodies with healthy food,
Just as we guide their minds in learning,
Just as we provide healthy love and encouragement for their hearts,
We want to purposefully provide loving guidance as their faith and relationship with God grows.
All of this growing is interdependent!
As they receive love and encouragement from family and friends, they understand God’s love in new ways.  As they learn more about the world around them, they can see God’s wisdom and creativity in His creation. As their reading skills grow, they have the opportunity to read God’s Word in the Bible and continue growing in their understanding and love for Him.  We want them to have a Bible they can read and understand as they grow up.  We also want to remind them (and their parents!) that their church family loves and supports them as they are growing in their relationship with and understanding of God.
Deut. 6:4-9
Listen, people of Israel! The Lord is our God. He is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength. Always remember these commands I give you today. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road. Talk about them when you lie down and when you get up. Write them down and tie them to your hands as a sign. Tie them on your forehead to remind you. Write them on your doors and gates.”
