Mark 4.35-41
When evening came, Jesus said to them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.” They left the crowd and took him in the boat just as he was. Other boats followed along.
Gale-force winds arose, and waves crashed against the boat so that the boat was swamped. But Jesus was in the rear of the boat, sleeping on a pillow. They woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re drowning?”
He got up and gave orders to the wind, and he said to the lake, “Silence! Be still!” The wind settled down and there was a great calm. Jesus asked them, “Why are you frightened? Don’t you have faith yet?”
Overcome with awe, they said to each other, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!”

Abba, Father we are so grateful we can call you so intimately yet you are so much more than what our human mind can fathom. You call us by our names and have been there when we were still being woven in our mother’s wombs. Words fail to quantify your majesty and it always amazes us how you in your wisdom put all things in its proper place and the earth we live in co exists in this vast galaxy. We often take for granted that we are mere humans, outcast when Adam & Eve sinned but by your grace and only by your grace we have a second chance.
We come to you as individuals and corporately as a Church and ask your forgiveness for sins big and small and seek you to lead us into the path less traveled and help us not to shy away from discomfort for your kingdom sake.
In this life we have a mixture of joys and sadness and particularly now as we go through some trying times we ask for your continued leading to handle different emotions and situations. We especially pray for healing from sickness and emotional instability, financial solutions for those in need, job losses, family tensions and many unspoken needs. All knowing God may our prayers be acceptable in your sight. Science and nature often makes us afraid, unstable and worried, but you have taught us time and again to trust you and not to be afraid. Yes the storms of life are real and can knock us down at times but you our God is above all this and we continue to put our trust and hope in you. Our hearts can rest in knowing that you are sovereign and nothing can separate us from your eternal love.
We ask all this in Your matchless name. AMEN
