And when you fast, don’t put on a sad face like the hypocrites. They distort their faces so people will know they are fasting. I assure you that they have their reward. When you fast, brush your hair and wash your face. Then you won’t look like you are fasting to people, but only to your Father who is present in that secret place. Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Lord, this whole year has been one of fasting.
Fasting from gathering with friends and family, in-person school and work, and even our normal church gatherings.
We have tried to be faithful.
It has been difficult and uncertain,
But we abide safe distance and wear our masks.
Trusting that our reward will be lives saved, lives known and unknown to us.
Lord, honor our fast and may our great reward be eternal Easter celebrations.
