Lent Daily Devotional: 3/19/21

Matthew 6.14-15

If you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your sins.

The Lord’s Prayer is a great spiritual resource. Jesus offered this simple prayer to give us words when we struggle to find our own. On Fridays during Lent, we have been practicing praying the Lord’s Prayer. Today, we will reflect on the prayer, “And forgive us of our sins, As we forgive those who have sinned against us.” After sharing this prayer with his followers, Jesus reiterates the importance of forgiveness. As you pray and confess your sins to God, consider who you need to forgive. Listen to God, trust God’s guidance as God reveals ways you can actively forgive this person(s).

Make a note to remind yourself to practice forgiveness everyday

Our Father,

who is in heaven.

Holy is your name.

Your Kingdom come,

Your will be done

on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us of our sins,

As we forgive those who have sinned against us.

Lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from all evil.

For Yours is the Kingdom, Power and Glory. Forever and ever. Amen.
