GriefShare, a biblical, Christ centered grief support program for those who have lost loved ones, has been an important part of the Northlake family for the past eighteen months. The program graciously benefits grieving members, as well as many people in our community. It provides a safe place for hurting people to find healing and hope as they walk through the journey of grief and receive support. Barbara Porter began as a participating member, as she was still feeling the profound loss of her husband. Now a year later, she is an enthusiastic GriefShare leader and encouraging others to take advantage of this supportive opportunity.
Sunday night, May 1st seven participants with family and friends enjoyed a meal together and shared a short, memorable story about their loved one as a meaningful part of the closing ceremony for the Spring session. One participant gratefully expressed, “May God give grace to this church for providing GriefShare for us.”
This program requires trained leaders. A training workshop for grief recovery leaders is planned on Saturday, May 14, 8:45am -3:45pm. Licensed professional counselor, Joyce Tomblin, is the facilitator. If you would want to be a part of the compassionate ministry, contact Doris Clark email@example.com to register immediately.
A fall session of the GriefShare ministry will begin late summer on August 7. GriefShare leads you through the journey of loss and sorrow to a new place of renewed joy.
