Join one of our Northlake elders, Jeff Hendrick, for a special 10-day study series on “Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places” by Eugene H. Peterson.
A study of God’s idea of how his followers can live together effectively in community. Eugene H. Peterson will be our guide as we listen to excerpts from his book, Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places.
Peterson is one of my longtime favorite authors and his treatment of this topic prompted me to consider how our Northlake Church family might benefit from it…I decided to read some of it for you, using video.
The 10 Commandments (literally “10 Words”) are presented in the section of the book about community; we’ll look at a new “Word” each day. The videos usually last about one minute, except longer for Day 1 and Day 10. Scripture is from Deuteronomy 5:6-21.
Jeff’s Scriptural practice of reading:
Reading and listening to the Spiritual understanding of other believers helps me better appreciate, recognize and engage with Scripture and God’s will for his followers. Those most helpful show you how to think, not what to think.
1st Word: In Deut. 5:6-7 we learn what God has done for his beloved. Peterson asks us to consider the first five “Words” as a pentad that is focused on God.
What do you think about God telling us what to do after he tells us what He has done for us?
